Room Inspiration

A library inspired by the pages of the novels it holds, the Kipling House team has created a room to transport into a garden menagerie.  By painting the existing paneling to match the background of the custom Gracie wallpaper, the floral and fauna appear to be growing out of the room.  Under a captivating canopy of blooming flowers and birds in flight, the room is swathed in theatrical silk curtains to add drama, inspired by breezy verandas and providing softness to the heavy architecture.  A custom rug was designed to mimic marble patterned courtyards.  To counter the masculine undertone of the room, furnishings are upholstered in sumptuous velvets, silk ticking stripes and graphic hand-loomed patterns.  One-of-a-kind artwork, as seen in the papier mâché botanicals and original Hana Katoba photography, mingles amongst sea life details as seen in the oyster bookshelf sconces and seashell plates.  A truly multi-functional space for todays’ family - games, an intimate evening by the fire, impromptu work from home tasks and reading alike.
